- Itinerary
You’ll be welcomed at Colombo or Bandaranaike International Airport and begin your journey toward the Cultural Triangle. Travel through changing landscapes as you head to Dambulla in the Central Province.
On arrival, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, Sri Lanka’s largest and best-preserved cave complex. Explore its five ancient caves filled with Buddhist statues, wall murals, and historical treasures dating back over 2,000 years.
After your temple visit, check into your hotel and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Dambulla or Sigiriya.
Overnight Stay: Dambulla / Sigiriya
tart your morning with a visit to Sigiriya Rock Fortress, one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic landmarks. Climb the ancient rock citadel built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century. Discover its water gardens, mirror wall, frescoes, and ruins of the royal palace on the summit.
After descending, continue your cultural trail to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka’s second medieval capital. Walk among the ruins of palaces, temples, shrines, statues, and reservoirs — including the famous Gal Vihara, with its serene rock-cut Buddha statues.
Return to your hotel for rest and relaxation.
Overnight Stay: Dambulla / Sigiriya
After breakfast, depart for Anuradhapura, the first capital of ancient Sri Lanka and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore monumental stupas like Ruwanwelisaya, Thuparamaya, and Jetavanaramaya. Visit the Sri Maha Bodhi Tree, grown from a cutting of the very tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment.
In the afternoon, travel to Mihintale, a sacred hill where Buddhism was first introduced to Sri Lanka in the 3rd century BCE. Climb the ancient steps to explore shrines, temples, and stone stairways, and enjoy panoramic views of the dry zone landscape.
After the visit, transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Overnight Stay: Anuradhapura / Habarana
After breakfast, begin your journey back to Colombo or the airport. Depending on your departure time, you may stop at roadside markets, coconut stands, or local craft shops along the way.
